Kent County Council launched the Kent Opp Charge Electric Bus trial this morning, at Greenhithe station. They have been working with Volvo, ABB, Arriva, Prologis and Southeastern in order for this project to come together.
The Electric Bus service will run in Greenhithe for the next seven weeks and will determine whether the scheme can be rolled out throughout the country.
The electric bus will charge in just six minutes outside the station, using innovative OppCharge pantograph high-power charging technology. The OppCharge makes the range of the bus limitless by allowing the bus to charge at convenient locations along the line of route (sometimes in 30 seconds).
The bus will be operating on the Fastrack – a route between Bluewater, Greenhithe, Dartford and The Bridge. It’s service will run hourly on Mondays-Sundays until 9th May 2018.
