To mark National Home Security Month, which takes place throughout October, specialist supplier ElectricalDirect, has created a guide for tradespeople on the types of smart technology they can use to improve home security.
According to a national survey of 730 tradespeople by ElectricalDirect, 89% of respondents said they are not confident in advising customers on smart security. However, with 43% of tradespeople also claiming that customers ask them about fitting smart security products, this guide provides a much-needed knowledge base.
The guide is designed to help electrical professionals understand smart technology and the ways in which it can improve home security, and enable them to start including the installation of products such as smart lighting, smart alarms and smart locks for their customers.
Wayne Lysaght-Mason, managing director of ElectricalDirect said: “As a national stockist of smart security products we want to support electrical professionals in making the most of this rapidly evolving market, which offers property owners user-friendly technology, operated via smart phones.
“Although it is understandable that smart security is yet to become as popular as more established electrical security products, we encourage tradespeople to use our guide and even pass it on to their customers. After all, smart security offers fantastic benefits – whether they are in addition to, or a replacement for, traditional methods.”
The guide walks readers through the rooms of a typical home and suggest ways in which this new technology could revolutionise not just security, but everyday life. Covering topics such as how to connect devices to phones, and products including motion sensors, door and window security, and smart plug sockets, the guide provides a thorough introduction to smart security.
