Here are some key tips on electrical safety when wiring a domestic plug. 1 Make sure all terminals are correctly terminated into the correct terminals. Earth which is green and yellow cable to terminate into the earth pin in the plug which is usually the top terminal. 2 The neutral terminal which is blue will then terminate into the left side termination block and finally the phase or live terminal will then terminate into the right side block and this will be connected to the fuse for the plug, note all power appliances should have a 13 amp fuse, the terminations on all blocks should be whole with no strands loose, if stranded cable is to be used, and all blocks should be sufficiently tight to avoid arching. Finally make sure the tension bracket is tight for the cable or lead on entry to the plug, this is needed if the cable is ever pulled so it will not pull out of its terminations. Finally replace the cover and use the appliance with confidence.
